2023 MIDDLE SCHOOL TOURNAMENT FORMAT

  • Weight Classes (no allowance!) 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 112, 120, 128, 136, 145, 157, 180, 235 
  • Brackets will be double elimination or round robin, depending on the size of the weight class.
  • Champions will receive custom championship belts, and 2nd through 5th places are awarded medals. (no challenges for "true" 2nd). We will still wrestle to 8th place. Finalists will receive custom championship singlets.
  • Middle School division will be held on Sunday beginning at 8 am, and run on 8 mats. We anticipate the tournament ending around 4-5 pm on Sunday, based on previous years, but cannot give an exact time
  • 2-1-1 periods (Championship); 1-1-1 (Consolation)
  • Folkstyle (Scholastic)
  • Due to time constraints, any matches that go into overtime will use 1 minute sudden death overtime, if no score, followed by tiebreaker rideout (first to score in regulation gets choice) 
  • College out-of-bounds rules will be used
  • Elementary-aged wrestlers may compete in the Middle School Division, but cannot compete in BOTH Elementary and Middle School Divisions. Girls may also enter, but cannot compete in both the Girls' and Middle School Divisions.
  • Headgear is recommended but not required
  • Nails must be clipped
  • Hair length is not an issue, but there can be no hard items in the hair (beads, bobby pins, barrettes, hair clips, etc...) nor can there be any hair treatments that are oily, greasy or slippery. If an individual wishes to wear a hair cover, it must be legal and attach properly to the headgear.
  • Facial hair length is not an issue. If an individual wishes to wear a mask, it must be legal.
  • Singlets are required for weigh-ins
  • Certified officials will be used from many different states
